hi all,

just today discovered this great peace of software.

first thing i want: midi clock responding to start/stop and sync it with my hpd15 which should be master.

i load a new empty workspace, put the receive midi clock patch on track 1, reaktor on track 2, switch on sync in usine (yellow arrow).

the patch and usine show the right tempo, but if i press stop on the hpd it sometimes greatly changes tempo (up to 20 bpm up) and then sometimes syncs again and sometimes stays at the wrong tempo and reaktor does not respond on start/stop of the hpd. and after some time reaktor just stops and maybe starts again a minute later or not :)

the console tells me that at each new bar a restart event is sent.... dont understand :)

what do i do wrong?

if anyone could tell me how to set up midi clock sync i would be very grateful!

using on win7 64bit
thinkpad t61, xp 32bit, 2gig ram, rme multiface // acer timelinex 3820t, win7 64bit, 4gig ram, NI komplete audio 6 // reaktor, battery, nuendo // roland hpd15

it's a long time i didn't used this module but if i well remember there is a subpatch in it to edit a range of tempo to help
the clock, but mmmm you can't access subpatch, maybe this patch should be changed so that the setting can be set
on master patch... unfortunately don't have midi in here to check, but some will probably find ya a solution

edit: ive moded so it's accessible on patch, maybe try to set a ranged tempo can help...

thank you 23fx23,

this was fast!

i did read about the tempo range in other post but could not find it, now i understand: subpatch....

got your patch, will test it.

seems i make no mayor mistake in my setup? will test another plug instead of reaktor, too.

EDIT: it works!

only problem: there is a graphical bug: the min tempo field is covering the max tempo field, i can access the max tempo and set it somehow, but can not see the value i set there, only view a tiny bit of the value bar.

a big thank you!

I think you set it up the right way. I also see a restart message every bar (or cycle length) when slaving Usine to to my Machinedrum so this is normal.
The only things I can think to check are for a midi feedback loop, bad midi cable or the hpd15 is outputting 'bad' or incompatable clock info.

@ gurulogic:

the patch from 23fx23 made it, see my edit in the post.

hpd worked with reaktor standalone with the same setup so i did not think about cable or bad midi data. no loop either.

i think i will be buisy the next days ....

oh i put the faders on above the other?, mm maybe you can right click and press "unlock" and rearrange them then,
or enter the value by double clic on the fader or inout of the patch. cool if works better.

yes, lessons... who t** f*** did plug in that midi cabel ...

spend a day reading manual and trying things... this is great stuff!

still - problems with clock sync:

i play a e-drum with hihat pedal. this drum gives midi clock. it sends controller when i step the pedal. so if i play fast snare/hihat things and step the pedal open/close in beat, the timing in usine changes and i loose the beat (well, usine does... :) )

i have a "data thin" setting in there, which i turned on, but does not help.

so i did put 3 midi in modules in the midi clock patch and filtered midi clock on first, start on the second and stop on the third to only have these mesages arrive in the patch. did not help... timing in usine goes down and up at around 5-10 bpm.

and i did this on the midi clock in patch i have from 23fx23, with the max and min tempo faders, which i set to 60-120, my tempo is around 73 (half tempo of the beat).

i will try use usine as a master, or remote the tempo fader in the dashboard, but i would really like to change tempo with the big dial on my drum thing as it is more precise, and this dial sends no midi messages to remote usine...

mm in anycases you would get better results if usine was master without trying to match one input, no way to get a controller for that?otherwise maybe you already tried but activating "unpack" , espeacially on the top patch level can help, as well as a lower bloc size in global seup setup.

try to activate unpack and set blocksize in preferences to 32 samples instead of default 128, this should allow a more precise
refresh of midiclock and better estimation.

it was also for start/stop with the start button on the drums, now i changed the midi clock module so it reacts on start/stop, but tempo is by usine, remote controlled with another knob on the drums, could work . i will try your tips anyway, did not try unpack and blocksize sounds like a good idea!

edit: again a perfect tip, blocksize and unpack, and it runs strait!
