when i stop hollyhock using a pianoroll for sequencing and then restart it again
it seems that there are notes still sounding.
it is like the piano roll when stopped is not sending a noteoff signal to the cutoff note.
do i have to implement it manually or is there something that can be done in the global menue?
many thanx in advance
cheers

Depending of your Midi out destination, but yes, you can use a sub-patch named Midi Send All Notes OFF in Modules/midi/midi tools

nay seven
thank you for the reply
i have found the module which is sending all notes of
but i don t see how i should implement it.
there is no onstop event for the piano roll.
i guess it has to happen after the piano roll stops.
any idea how to do it?
greetings

no, but you have a is playing outlet on the piano roll module
so you can create this :
is playing outlet > from 1 to 0 (modules/event control/) > Midi Send All Notes OFF inlet

hello nay seven
i tried it but can t get it to work.
the " is playing" outlet should send a "0" when i stop the sequencer. but it does not.
when i connect a LED to the "is playing " outlet its always on although i stopped the sequencer via the space bar.
there is no change event i can connect the "all midi notes off" module to.
i m on mac.
what am i doing wrong here?
many greetings

When you press the space you stop the piano roll but you stop also all calculations in Usine, so this can't work this way.
I suggest you to create a button from the inlet play and set the play button mode ( in the piano roll settings panel) to play-stop

yes i see
then the question would be
how can i start the button in sync with the overall bar structure.
i m looking for an "ableton live" approach on sequencing.
so i need several piano rolls looped in sync to each other.
i guess hollyhock is capable of this task.

ok, so you can use a master synchro module and add it a ON/OFF switch ?

yes that makes a good start and stop button for all piano rolls.
but how can i start one piano roll in sync with another piano roll that is already running?
cheers

You'll find a quantize buttton sub-patch in the modules/synchro time/
you can add it between your button and the play inlet of your piano roll
you can add it between your button and the play inlet of your piano roll

i have it working now.
but i needed to add a "toggle module" after the "quantize button".
so now it s button ->quantizeButton->toggle->PianoRoll play inlet.
puttin a switch before the quantize button is not producing the expected result.
thank you again nay seven

Not 100% sure but your last issue may be solved by adding in a 'pass only on change' between the switch and the quantizeButton.

Wouldn't it make sense to have a real reset button in Usine? It's something I really miss.
I'd often like to go to a defined point zero like many other DAWs do when you doubleclick on the stop button.
This would stop all playing notes, set the global time back to zero, reset all Samplers and Pianorolls etc.
ATM this can only be done either with a lot of complicated patching like in this thread or by reloading the workspace or Usine.
Or the other way around: what's the reason why such a reset isn't available?
Cheers,
Tom
