Hello,
In sequencer mode is it a possibility to save all curves setting of the 10 users curves in a patch ?
Currently it seems to me that setting curves are saved only in a workspace, no in a patch (if I save patch where I have modied curves setting(mame curve for exemple), when I reload this patch it lost curves setting, curves are default settings), how can I do that ?
Thanks to USINERS
Franck

Hi Franck,

I tried to do what you are asking for, but with no luck. I also tried the Preset Manager, but that didn't work either. To me also it seems that the user curve values are saved as part of the workspace and not the patch.

Any comments, Olivier?

Yes, actually user curves are stored in the workspace.
For me it was more logical as in a 'usual' sequencer automations aren't saved in the wave itself.
But finally it's maybe not a good choice?
The discussion is open!

Hello,
perhaps an option in settings "user curves are stored in the workspace" or "user curves are stored in patch", I think it will be a good option (I talk for me, of curse..).
What do you think of that ?

a simply a 'save automation curves' and 'import automation curves' in the patch menu which save them as an independent file?
So you can reuse them in different patches.

Yes, Olivier, good idea. I think it's the better, just like for the pianoroll, the scripts, the setup, etc...
But how will it be reloaded in a patch that has not the same size? Proportional or truncated (or too short)?

BTW, I am supposed to know things about the sequencer but... how is it possible to reload an audio file after a modification in an external editor? Just reload the workspace?

The easiest way for me is proportionally.

Hello,
I think there is a confusion with my request, that I would like it is a "save curve setting" an "load setting curves" in a patch menu. When I select one patch in sequencer, if I do "save setting curves" it saves all my setting curves ( names, min, max, scale, prec for the 10 users curves, not automations). After if I create a new patch, I select it and I can load a model setting curves to apply to this patch.
I hope my explanations are correct, what do you think of this proposition ?
Like said Vincent an other option could be "saves setting curves and automations" and "load setting curves and automations" in the selected patch.

Yes, you're right Mr Franck, curves and curve settings, two different things.
Good idea indeed.
I'm afraid that Usine become one day an Usine à Gaz...
I'll have to come back to my oldies Soundfonts on a crappy SB Live sleeping in my cave...

Hello Mr Vincent,
I dont want Usine become an "Usine a gaz" but I'm new user and I'm use Usine all days and a lot of time, I love it, this power and stability but there is always things are missing to facilitate my music work...
Long life to Usine and Usiners and good music.
in a friendly way

Helo Olivier, and Usiners Friends, of curse
another idea for setting curves.
Is it more easy for you to copy all setting curves ( names, min, max, scale, prec for the 10 users curves, not automations) of one patch in another patch, for me it would be a googd solution. When a patch is selected, menu patch, and a "copy all setting curves", after select another patch and menu patch "paste all setting curves".
what do you think of that ?
I come back to another problem whith curves:
When a patch is too small it is very difficult to add or move or delete a point curve because there is a visibles buttons on the patch and when I would like to add automation points at the end of patch It is so difficult to do that without change the active curve. In one old post I suggest a command "H" to hide all buttons curves and you said me
Another solution: when i select patch, if I would like to modify curve 1 (for exemple), I click to curve 1 button and all buttons on this patch Disappearing, now it is easy to modify curve. When I have finished to modify my curve I move my mouse out the patch or I select another patchand the buttons cuves of the patch Appears again.
what do you think of that ?

franck wrote:When a patch is too small it is very difficult to add or move or delete a point curve because of the buttons
Yeah, that's true... I think that patches were nor initially implemented to be so small. I recognize one of my stupid ideas... My solution is to a) zoom as much as possible b) make the patch a little bit longer (for buttons not to come over my points) and, when I'm finished with the points c) cut the patch to the the right length. Well, this happens not so often!
Since it seems that we all use Usine in different ways, I have a question, Franck: would you prefer being able to copy "all curve settings" or being able to copy some selected points of a curve to another place of the curve (patterns) or to an other curve (eg. filter cutoff and pan curves)?

Hello Vincent,
for me the problem is not to copy the automation curves, for "me" it is more important to copy all setting curves ( names, min, max, scale, prec for the 10 users curves), because in my midi patch batterie I use all curves of patch to remote volume for my vsti (addictive drums). User curve 1 for Kick volume, User curve 3 for CClaire volume, User curve 3 for Hit Hat volume .....
when I load a midi sequence (use seq midi player template) I must all the time to name the ten curves ( and stting mini,max,scale...) of alls patch midi I create. It is so long. A copy settings curves patch to another patch would be fine for me. But an option to copy automation points of one patch to an other would be fine too, there is another command.

Hi drummer Franck

I understand.
If you use this set a lot, why not to create a template? Well it has to be a workspace, not a patch...
