Rack Output - Possible to modify?

I am trying to add a simple panner to my stereo output device, but it seems I cannot get the controls to show.
Anybody know if this is possible?

it works here for me in both tracks and device patches. The subpatch is "invisible" by default, you need to set it to "control panel".
