Retrieving actual values of GRM VST parameters when needed
Hi,
I had e-mails with Emmanuel Favreau at GRM: when you use the presets of a GRM plugin, the new values of the parameters are not sent to the module's outlets. He answered that «Hollyhock is to ask the current parameter values when needed (the function exists) and not the plugin to send continuously the values of all parameters».
So my question is: how to "ask the current parameters values", how to use this function?
Thanks for any answer!
regards,
Vincent

Not sure if you tried this yet, but this is over on the Tips page:

Hi shawnb, thanks for the answer.
In fact, as said in my post, it's when the presets of the plugin (GRM Tool) are used that the outlets don't update to the new value.
Hollyhock should be able to retrieve the new values when needed (E Favreau says that the function exists), but I don't know about it. Maybe a script?
Thanks.
Vincent

Just to be clear - have you tried the method documented in the Tips in the link provided?

Yes shawnb, sorry I've not been clear.
I know this tip and I've tried it (very long time ago, indeed
).
The problem I would like to solve is that the outlets of the GRM plugins do not send the new values when the plugin's parameters are changed with the plugin's preset.
I've been told there should be a function in Hollyhock to ask for those values. Is this right?
Thanks.

Well, this is definitely something that CAN be addressed by the plugin developer, as all of my NI instruments resend their parameter values when they change patches..... but I stopped using VB3 in part because it did not. Very frustrating when running drawbars from within HH.

You're right...woodslanding wrote:[...] as all of my NI instruments resend their parameter values when they change patches..... but I stopped using VB3 in part because it did not. Very frustrating when running drawbars from within HH.
What do you mean by using VB3? Are GRM Tools written in VB?
Well, this does not help me so much... I'll try to find some workaround.
Thanks anyway!

I dunno, to be honest.Vincent wrote:I've been told there should be a function in Hollyhock to ask for those values. Is this right?
Bonehead question... Is there a way to have the VST send midi CCs based on the fader setting?

Sorry that wasn't clear..... VB3 is a VST for emulating the hammond B3 .....

Maybe from the MIDI outlet?shawnb wrote:Is there a way to have the VST send midi CCs based on the fader setting?
If not, you can connect a Midi>Send Midi Message and a HasChanged module to the fader outlet?
Oops, yes, sorry. That's why drawbars of course. It's out of topic but is there a demo of this VSTi?woodslanding wrote:VB3 is a VST for emulating the hammond B3
