The preset manager has buttons "New" and "Write" which do what you expect. The other button "List" causes the preset manager popup window. In the popup you get "New" and "Write" buttons and a "Rewrite" toggle.

It's very simple, the purpose of the "rewrite" toggle is to rewrite a preset.
You can create a new preset with "new", update a preset you selected with "write" or erase an older with "rewrite" then select the preset you want to erase.
It's also the only solution to reorganize presets.
