I'm trying to get monome and usine communicating through OSC. I'm a little confused. I've followed the directions in the manual but i still can't seem to get it working. I've read that most people are using OSC to have multiple computers communicating. What about for OSC/Midi controllers? Is the setup any different? Yes, i have already installed WinPCap.

From the manual:

To activate the OSC monitoring, proceed in the following order:
1) Activate the OSC receive checkbox

okay

2) Choose the Lan adaptor to monitor

i'm not sure which option i should choose here. my choices are:

generic dialup adapter- when i choose this option nothing 'seems' to happen. Nothing appears in the monitor space.

Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler)- when i choose this option i get the message: "Failed to Start Monitor - Violation d'acc?s ? l'adresse 004F1A39 dans le module 'Usine 2.54.exe'. Lecture de l'adresse 00000000"

Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler)- when i choose this option i get the message: "Start OSC monitoring Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler)
Time Prot Plen Source IP:Port Dest IP:Port Service Dlen Packet Data

Any ideas?

4) But if you want to verify that you are connected and see incoming messages,
activate the Display Message checkbox. Note that activating this function can cost a
lot of CPU.

No matter which adapter i choose, i don't see incoming osc messages.

5) If you want to activate localhost OSC monitoring, you have to choose the local UDP
port.

What is local host monitoring? Is my local host considered Usine or Monome?

I also wanted to point out that some of the dialogue tabs in the latest release are in French...me no speak french :-)

Lots of questions, i know. Thanks for your patience!

hello,
Did you connect the monome with the ethernet cable?

Your ethernet driver seems to be "Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller (Microsoft's Packet Scheduler)". so choose this device.

When you connect an external OSC controler, the controler sends what we call 'packet' or OSC messages.
The monitoring is only to verify that the connection is good, and Usine receives data's. (see the incoming 'packets', like the 'trace' option in the Midi setup)

Are you sure that the monome sends packets? (maybe you have to configure something in the monome?)

The local host monitoring is only if you want to comunicate between two softs on the same computer. You dont need it.

Now you have to add OSC receive/send modules.

An OSC message looks like /box/press xxx xxx

I hope it helps...

me again...
In fact monome doesn't send osc packets with the eternet protocol. I'm not sure it can work under XP as a standalone device.
Ask the monome support for information?
