Ok, I'm getting the hang of usine, what a great environment!

I got it to use live, mainly as a loopstation, plugin host, sound mangler, etc.

I'm digging the moody looper workspace, I'm currently configuring it for my specific needs...

It's my first time dealing with live looping, so I miss some basic knowledge about sync and other concepts involved. I might need to be walked through some of it...

So... basically, I want to use the looping in 2 ways:

-first, an ambient looper, meaning that I don't want the different tracks to be synchronized, thus creating independent layers, with different lengths. I tried to play with the quantize settings and managed to get it working as I want, except that sometimes one loop is retriggered once in a while, which I'd like to avoid. I'd like to understand precisely the quantize and sync settings, I read the manual but I find it lacking some basic explanation about many things...

-Second, I want to build songs with chord progressions and fixed # of bars and be able to switch between parts... Let's say I record an "A" part with 16 bars, with piano, I add some bass, then I want to make a "B" part, so I'd like to push a controller so the "A" part completes it's run and stops while the recording starts again on another track so i can start recording the "B" part. Then I want to be able to recall the "A" part again and improvise on top of it, then have it stopped (at the end of it's run) while I take over the piano part and end the song. Would that be difficult to achieve?

On another topic: what's the best way to deal with automating patch changes for plugins? It must be simple but I did not manage to have my plugins react to prg changes, I tried the "create midi message" module, to no avail...

Thanks a lot for your help!

hello
first thing is that maybe the best way to learn about synchro ans sampling in Usine could be to explore the addons place

in Synchro and Time tools some addons like Ben Odd Meters New Demo could be a start..?

check also the Punch-In Loops V2 from bsork in the sampling section , i think it could be a good step for your second wish

not sure it's what you're looking for , but maybe this example could be a direction for your last wish :

I just use the preset manager to store and recall plugin patches...this is the most flexible, imo

Thanks for the hints, that's helpful.

Has anyone any experience with moody's looper? I'm trying to figure why it skips sections of loops sometimes, which breaks the continuity of my ambient soundscapes...

Will probably be back with more questions later...

Have a nice day!
