Just started thinking about this. Did some creative sampling today for the first time in years (wow, I did a lot of this in the 90's, but not lately!) and wondered about using usine to create an auto-sampler..... really don't feel like spending $250 for dedicated software to do this.

Kontakt will do a fair amount of auto-parsing to create keymaps, so I'm thinking about a module in usine that:

1) records a note from my source
2) analyzes its pitch
3) analyzes its peak volume
4) uses this data to create a name, such as NEWINST_C4_vel46.wav
5) saves the sample to disk with this name.

I need to look into this further, but does anybody see where usine would fail to manage one of these tasks????

hmmmmm......

Even better, trigger recording from a transient on the input, delay the input to the sample module just the right amount to capture the attack, and stop recording and save the file when the threshold goes below a certain point....

Wait, does the sample module allow me to save under a specific name??? That may be the failure point.....

In which case, FEATURE REQUEST: SaveSampleAS commatext input on sample module!!!!

(actually asked for one of these on the conductor too a while back, now that I think about it.....)

cheers!

exept the eventual name, but maybe you can specify it, this seems a good and fairly doable idea.

Might there be a way to specify it through IML???

mmm i don't think it's possible via IML.

would need indeed a sava filename input to get it working in clean way, actually one thing is possible but messy:
activate random saving and track the randomnumbered given name and it's associed zeroCrossings each new rec.
then there might be a way i suppose by script to rename the reced files on HD.

lol tricky i reckon , but im pretty sure it can work, exept windows might not allow renaming current used files,
but maybe then a copy to new file is possible, i didn't played with files manipulation in script by the way, but interested in,
so let us know if find something, i ll try to have a look myself too, but running out of time those days...
