i created some baselines and harmonys in nuendo2 as midifiles.
when i look at the midifile in my nuendo2, the notes have different length, everything looks ok. if i import the same file in pianoroll, all notes have the same length (1/32) ... ???
no quantisation on, not in nuendo, not in the piano roll.
i did some tests with different midi files, and always the same.
any ideas someone?

I've test with different midifiles and can't reproduce this..
you use the last 5.50.58 version..?
all files came from Nuendo or did you test with other sources..?

will test with other source software.

yup!, I tried some demosongs and (even though I has not tested heavily) mat is right

every note is of the same lenght.
I'll try to test a little more later

It seems theres a problem, although not every note is the same lenght, but almost:
the same mid file into reaper and into usine

Thanks Nay

btw, I uploaded a little midi test file into a zip file.
is a one track midi file and owns the strange behaviour noted in usine.
in the uploader, it looks like a zero kb file but is not, its about 256 bytes long

ok, there's a format question behind...
can you check this one, created in Reaper, i open it correctly in Usine

@nayseven: your file opens correctly.
i opend another midi file from my collection (comercial product) direct into usine: works.
same file opened in nuendo and exported (as format 0 and 1 ): in usine both are broken, in nuendo reopened both are correct ...
so it seems to be something with nuendo (and reaper)

Yes Nay, it correctly opens in Usine
Hmmm, I think I found the origin of the problem!
Many programs and old midi controllers used to write the midi files WITHOUT the NOTE OFF messages, instead using a NOTE ON with a value of ZERO.
Is something like a compability compromise with old hardware.
In usine, this kind of file format causes the ignoring of the original lenght of the note.

This is not that uncommon. I've got processing on all my inputs to convert noteons of zero to noteoffs. None of my midi controllers are particularly old, but several do this.
It would be nice if usine compensated for this automatically on input.... all my other hosts do, AFAIK.

Yeah!, I agree.
It should be either in realtime or when importing a midi file into a pianoroll.
