Hello,

I'm using Usine as a VST in Ableton Live . The Usine patch consist of two tracks with a piano on each one . My wish is to be able to start the two piano roll in sync ? I mean one play button for the two ?

Or any other solution ?

cheers

yes, you can put the piano roll in sync = button
then a button with data buses..?

or each one a button but with the same midi learn

or use the starting outlet of the first piano roll to send the play to the second

and certainly others ways ;)

Hello,

The second solution is working fine for me. But i was thinking about a way to have in the same workspace the possiblity to send midi output from two different piano roll ,and with Usine used as a VSTi in Ableton Live ? my wish is to record these two piano roll in two different track in Live.

I can't configure midi output from Usine because it is used as a VSTi and if i'm using to different instance of Usine, i'm losing the sync process described above ...

Any solution ?

Cheers

yes, I've try and ableton is not easy about midi routing and can't find a quick way, i suppose you need to find a midi mapper tool to filter each canal and distribute them to 2 different tracks.
we have protofuse here on the forum who is a certified ableton guy, I'll ask him...

hi there,
Live constrains us to have only one midi channel per track.
It also drives us to tweak things a bit when you need midi from a track where there is already an instrument (= a midi consumer)

You have to use source routing in that case.

Let's say that:
track 1 the midi clip and your instrument
track 2 the track where you want to grab midi from the track 1

both midi tracks of course

you have to choose in the track two as a midi source the track 1 and, in order to switch the input of track 1 to be processed, you have to put the monitor forced on IN .

does it answer ?

Hello protofuse,

I think what you describe is what i'm doing at the moment in Live :

- One midi track with Usine (the Usine workspace contains 2 piano roll, one set on channel 1 and the second one on channel 2)
- another midi track which grab the midi flow from Usine . The problem is i can't set "midi from" Usine and thenchoosing a midi channel from Usine ! Live let pass all midi channel.

My wish is :

- One Midi track with usine
- a Second midi track which grab midi channel 1 from Usine
- a Third Track which grab the midi channel 2 from Usine

Do you think it's possible ?

yes, cause there's only a canal choice when you use a midi interface ( hardware) as input, no when you choose a track
really curious, how Live support for example a midi file with several midi canal inside..?

i've test different way , but i realize Live transform all in canal 1, even if you use different canal as sources ...strange
i suppose we need a midi filter or mapper here, don't know enough Live ...

alternative : 2 use 2 instance of Usine...:(

Do you think Max for Live would allow this ?
