One question, if i open MIDI In Device patch, how does the "From Midi Device" module decides which MIDI device it should use? As i don't see any relevant property in this module.
Just asking because i think of concept which uses some "grouped" devices (i know it seems crazy).
midi in device identification
Hi drakh,
I always wondered the same thing, MIDI does not work like the Audio and all MIDI devices merge and are really not port-parallel through the entire patch.
This is one thing I would like to see happen, whether in an update or a future Hollyhock. This is something that is a big deal for me as well.
With some of my setup I'd like to wire up a feedback controller and keep this port separated from the MIDI input/output devices of the notes/controllers flowing through.
In some cases the only option is to do some complicated filtering/bussing etc...to separate the MIDI paths. If port-parallel options were available and MIDI worked like the Audio this would be spectacular.
An example would be feedback controllers, I have a pair of Traktor F1's I built a sequencer for that is awesome (hopefully share sometime as add-on), but...the drawback is that the pads are note driven to control the huge LED colors available. In order to use this I have to buss the outputs of the MIDI into another track to feed to my synth or hardware unit.....because the F1 management MIDI will interfere and start playing notes.
Instead of 1 Rack to handle what this should, it takes 2 racks to do the task.
