First question: when I assign the pianoroll to the midi-in of a sampler (only 1 sample loaded, for example kling.wav), which note is the sample assigned to? Is there a way to map that?

Second question: samplers like Halion and Kontakt allow creation and use of midi-note-to-sample maps; is there a way to do the same thing via the samplers in Usine?

Suggestion 1: if it's possible, why not make the samplers compatible with Kontakt or Halion instruments?

Suggestion 2: in Cubase, when you click on the piano notes on the left of the pianoroll, you get to hear them: could you do it, for the sake of all of those who don't use a midi keyboard?

the sampler of Usine is very special: 'live' oriented and provides all other soft sampler can't do.
In that way it's not an AKAI S1000 emulation but the total oposite...with no mapping capabilities.
Of course it's a choice and you can find on the Net a lot of good emulations, compatible (or not) with the S1000 library.

Re your 1st Q: IIRC, the original pitch is at note number 60, ie middle C. I don't think you can remap that in any way on the sampler itself, but you could use a midi transformer to transpose up or down to fit the sample played with the note sent.

I'd like to add to Senso answer that there are a lot of other library formats out there that's worth checking out, for instance Soundfonts.
