[SOLVED] usine 4 / compatibility with Native Instrument's Kontakt

Hi, is anybody experiencing compatibility problem with Kontakt as vst or apple component inside Usine 4 ?

Other N.I. virtual instruments are ok (FM8, reaktor etc.)

When I use Kontakt (I tried 5 and 6 versions), I can put it into the patch, but when I open it and load a library (whatever I choose), Usine returns me :
- first -> Error : syntax error
I click "ok" button
- then -> Error : newline expected

Then, if I click a very numerous time on "ok" button, the library loads, and Kontakt is in order of operation, I can play it correctly. For some libraries, I need less "ok" button clicks as "The Giant", in general, I let the enter touch pressed until the library is loaded :)

It is not satisfaying in live situation of course.

hello,
It is a Kontakt error message. From the BrainModular side there is no way to debug this issue. A google "error parser kontakt" will give you some more info?

Hi Senso. I guessed it was a Kontak problem. Thank you for your reply and the clue. Seems hard to solve...

I found the solution in a 2007 Native Instrument post - which is up to date for Kontakt versions 5 and 6. Here is the link : https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... ted.56851/ (see message #4 from Stephan @ NI, Nov 16, 2007 )
And the post :
Hello,
possibly the default instruments/multi files are corrupted. These files are part of the Kontakt installation.

Approach to a solution:
Delete the files and see if Kontakt 3 now starts without a problem.

How-to:
in two locations (see below) you will find two files named

Kontakt_def.nkm
and
Kontakt_def.nki

move these files to the trash.

the locations are:

C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Native Instruments\Kontakt 3

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Kontakt 3\default

When done try if Kontakt now starts. If it starts, create a default multi of your choice, it may or may not be an empty multi (empty rack). Now from the Kontakt load button choose "save as default multi" to regain the default multi loaded at startup of Kontakt.

Stephan
For Apple OS, I found these 2 files in two locations
first: Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Kontakt/default
second (need to reveal hidden files): /Users/myname/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Kontakt/default

1- I deleted these files for the two versions of my Kontakt softwares
2- emptied the trash
3- started Kontakt standalone
4- loaded some libraries
5- opened Usine 4
6- loaded an instance ok kontakt vst in a rack
7- loaded a former problematic library
8- [EDIT] It worked only once...

So it is unsolved for now.

Another solution tested from this forum : http://forum.cakewalk.com/Kontakt5-erro ... 54637.aspx
On post #6 Re: Kontakt5 errors (Platinum) January 21, 15 10:52 PM, it is said
Changed windows locale to english (usa) seem to work.
But I don't think that it's really a bug by NI, because only platinum have problems with that localization. X3 and other DAW's work fine with Kontakt5 on a german windows.

I changed my regional parameters to english US, and the parse error disapeared after rebooting (I was on french - France parameters).
To check, I change another time to french-France, rebooted : the error was there :)

So - I hope - it is the final solution => change regional parameters to english US to use Kontak 5 or 6 in Usine 4 - relou N.I. :x
