i made a very simple overdub sampler up to make little rythms ,it works,ok...
i would like to make record not only on cycles, bars etc;;;but to record a number of bar i choose, like in punch in sampler...in fact another problem i met is : the overdub works in the punchin sampler, but while you recording a new sound, the sound you recorded before disappears to re appears whith the new sound after the rec...any ideas?? thanks...

there is a rec&play option in the sample: if it's ON, the buffer is playing during the recording.

Hi,

I'll been busy with other stuff, so I haven't had the time to look into this question. I've never really tried the "other" recording options in the samplers much, but I see if I can find some solution tonight.

[Edit:] How do you want the overdubs to behave in terms of length (in bars)? Should the first recording's length be kept, or should it updated everytime a new recording takes place?

at the beginning, imade a simple overdub patch, and wanted to record a number of bar i choose and not depending on cycle, and ,after that i discovered your wonderfull punch in patch,in wich you can choose the number of bar recorded,so i told me i can use it as an overdub simple, and then i met the problem ...in fact punch in patch is well as it is(for me and the moment),i think i need more to know how to transform an overdub sampler to be able to choose the number of bar recorded,i tried to look how it was made in your patch but as a beginner i didn't understand a lot,so...i wrote this topic...

Hi again, I've had a look at the PunchIn Sampler patch, and must confess that I too have a hard time understanding everything I've done there...

The PunchIn patches aren't really made for overdubs, unless you're using several instances and ping-pong record between two instances, mixing the output of one with the new input and sending the result to the other patch. The PunchIn Loops workspace might - despite its limitations - be more suitable for this stuff, see http://www.sensomusic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=327. It's a lot more complex as a whole, but control of the recordings is "centralized" into a master patch with a script, so that the sample playing patches are a lot simpler.

Right now I can't really think of any other good ways of creating overdubs with a fixed number of bars, at least nothing that's flexible in terms of where in the bar the recording/playback will be triggered etc. Have you checked out the Live Echoplexx patch? I guess what you're after would be some kind of a mix of the PunchIn and the Echoplexx patches.
