Hello guys !

I'm on the way to use Mobius as a Vst in Usine 4.22d.
I'v found that Mobius is a powerfull Live lopper.
With Usine, it becomes very very powerfull ...

But the problem, is that if I close My "simple" Mobius Workspace to load another usine Workspace, usine crash !

I think, it is due to Mobius.
Mobius vst open its own Windows
then usine can't shut it down

I've found a solution, but on Usine 3.57 free !!!
I close the mobius window before loading another workspace
then there is no crash ...
But for live situation, it's a little bit slow
This soluce doesn't work with usine 4.01, 4.11, 4.22b

Are other Usine-Mobius users facing the same problem ?
Is there a solution to correct this bug ?
Thanks a lot
J.

yes the moebius main window is not destroyed when usine ask the vst to be closed.
actually I have no solution because the pb seems to come from moebius.

but on the v 4.22d there is no crash (on my system) and it works even if you load another workspace.
so maybe it comes from a conflict between moebius and something else installed on your PC?

Thanks for your post !
It's solved
You were right
This bug was caused by an usb midi-device on my computer (eowave - footcontrol)
I still have to close Mobius window to load another Workspace
The Win shortcut "alt + F4" is doing this job now ;)
the shortcut "alt + Tab" is also usefull to switch beetween Usine and Mobius windows
best regards
Javanais

Ps : I will later on, open a topic on : what could be a "dream live looper" patch, on usine for intrumentist
lot of things to say ;)

mobius updated to 1.38
fix the window problem here , at least the window is like a " normal vst " now , no more dual window except if you select it in preferences..

Hi !

We were waiting for for a better integration of these two software.
Here it come with the mobius 1.38
the mobius window is now really inside usine
Thanks Jeff for this improvement.

But my favorite crash came back !
I explain

I crash with Mobius 1.38, if I load another usine workspace

- My midi device is an EMU 1616M (non usb)
- my emu is check in mobius as midi in
- I close Mobius window before loading another workspace

but if there is no midi device check, there is no crash,
but I ain't got any midi to control mobius !!!

It's all right with Mobius 1.33 if I load another usine workspace
- my emu midi device is check in mobius as midi in
- I have to close Mobius window before loading another workspace

hypothese 1 : Mobius don't like leaving Midi device !

----------------------------------------
hypothese 2 : Mobius doesn't like a midi device used by another application

as I open Usine, I can see in the boot startup,
that the midi out from my EMU is loaded ?! (you can see it, only 2 seconds)
But my emu midi device, is no check in the usine global setup

conclusion : Just a little step beyond and the integretion is nearly fully completed

Best regards
Frédéric

Hi, I'm the developer of Mobius...

If I understand correctly, the issue is caused by Mobius and Usine both trying to
open the same MIDI input device.

Mobius can be configured to open it's own MIDI input device in cases where the host
does not provide a way to route MIDI into the plugin. This is rare.

Usually the host controls the MIDI device and passes the MIDI events into the plugin
through the normal VST interface. I don't have Usine, but can you describe how this
would be done for javanaiz?

The problem that some hosts have is that they think plugins must be either "effects"
or "instruments". If they are effects they get audio input but not MIDI. if they
are instruments they get MIDI input but not audio.

Mobius is like a combination of an effect and an instrument, it needs to receive both
audio and MIDI inputts. Some DAWs have a problem with that but it looked like
Usine was more flexible.

Thanks,
Jeff

thanks for your explanation
We are proud to have such a good programmer on this forum!

if I understand correctly there is in the setup a option to disable the 'direct Midi In'?

thanks Jeff for your visit in this forum and for mobius
thanks Senso for Usine
and a special dedicace to Nay Seven, who helped me to find a solution
Usine + Mobius = Musical bomb for live looping

I'll do a small wiki about it (in the wiki usine section)
especialy for multi-musicians looping
some explanations here :

I agree: "Usine + Mobius = Musical bomb for live looping", but I have an issue with synchronization.
Mobius doesn't latch on to Usines' time clock -- I usually have to switch the synchro on and off repeatedly (space bar) until Mobius "wakes up" -- very annoying -- any idea how to fix this?

p.s. the tempo works fine, I'm using the Mobius 2 vst plugin under Windows 8.1.
