can someone explain me the technical difference between vst and vst-i?

vst can have audio in. vst-i not. is it that? processor load?

cant i just use vst for effects and instruments and forget vst-i?

Some vst hosts will only load a vsti as the first thing on a midi track - for example ableton live. Otherwise I don't think there's any difference in performance?

You're right clearscreen, the differences are quite subtle and more technical. And you can load an effect in the VSTi version and an instrument in the VST one. It's really depends of your Host .
