I'm trying to play drums live using piezo microphones. The workflow I have in mind is, every time I hit a kick drum, the next time the drum kick loop loops around (using piano roll) a sub note will hit sometime after the kick (say 3ms). However, here's the twist: if I hit another kick within that 3ms, chances are, the sub frequencies will mix with the kick frequencies, so what I want to do is if another kick drum note has been hit within the 3ms of the first one, the sub note does not play. The sub would preferably start actually "trailing" after the first bar has played, this way the system would know whether to play the sub note (and preferably what length of note it actually needs to be to not sonically interfere with the kick, but in fact, support it). I know midi delay is what I want to be looking at, its just getting the stop flow to work at the right order is what's eluding me.
Thanks!
Trailing midi
maybe i didn't got i all but the way i see i would use a simple counter of 3 ms with a end pulse. and a 'is counting' swich. whenever a kick hits it resets the counter, other wise after 3ms the end pluse trigs a midi message with the sub. the 'iscounting' swich invert can also stop the sound in case was still playing
Great explanation! Will try this out. Thanks.
