Hi Usiners,
Back again with my questions...sorry ^_^
I've just read in the manual that Usine's samplers were able to play samples simultaneously...what is called polyphony.
You can even chose the number of samples that can be played ! Wicked !
But how do you do that ?
I'm using this soft without MIDI stuff, just my laptop and soundcard...so I tried to set up some patch that could help me but...no way, I can't trigger 2 samples on one sampler simultaneously.
Any ideas (or explanation)?
Could (once again) a MIDI keyboard solve this problem ?
Another point I wanted to ask you : I'm trying to trigger a sampler with 2 methods, I have a single button (linked to play of course) but also a step sequencer (also linked to play)...and just as I thought it doesn't work 'cause both signs just collide. I tried to add an "or" and "xor" module but problem isn't solved...if you have any ideas, you're welcome !
About sampler and polyphony
what about 2 samplers linked to a button or whatever..?I can't trigger 2 samples on one sampler simultaneously.
i think sampler can be sync to a button or to midi ( for step sequencer you must use midi out of the step sequencer ---> midi in of the samplerI'm trying to trigger a sampler with 2 methods, I have a single button (linked to play of course) but also a step sequencer (also linked to play)
so maybe the solution could be 2 samplers again with the same sample..?
Hi,
As far as I know sampler modules ARE polyphonic when triggered via the MIDI input:
if you play a sample (let's say a note pitched C3)
if you play the C3 note on your KB then you'll hear the original sample, if you play C3 E3 G3 on the KB then you'll hear the corresponding chord out of the sampler.
Of course this won't work with sync set to Button, but only with midi.
I know Olivier has made a patch "computer keyboad to midi" in the add ons maybe you could try it.
About playing different samples at the same time in one sampler, I'm not sure wether it's possible or not but you could simply test it by doing a patch with a midi filter that sends a different value to the num entry for different notes you play.
Rgds,
B.
edit: well after thinking about this idea, of course it won't work, since you can't send two numbers at the same time to the num inlet. So the only solution to trigger two different samples at the same time is to use two samplers, or a dedicated software sampler like kontakt for instance.
