A MIDI effect to harmonize
I just watched a video about a new patch invented for another software (Live). This patch is pretty amazing. It Here is the inventor's description :
"The Schwarzonator is a note twister. It's all about helping musicians (or non-musicians) find the right notes and chords in real time. It turns one finger playing into chords that fit together well. Choose from a list of Chord Sets in a drop down menu. Then all notes you play on your keyboard will fit into the selected Chord Set."
And the link for the video :
http://www.ableton.com/schwarzonator
I'd like to build the same patch with Usine. As I'm really at the beginner stage, I don't have any idea of how to do it.
Does someone have an idea ?

maybe have a look at the midi create message in /midi, and midi input.
I suppose the goal is to trigger some new notes matching a chord when you play a note.
on the midi receive you can see receive led light up on note receive and val1 and val2 correspond to velocity and note nb.
i would link the receive led to the create inlet of the create midi mess module, set to note on,
so that when a note is received, it trigers a new note, wich is connected to the one received (data 1) + the chord spacing, ie +2..ect. via an a+b module. use 2 create modules to trigg 2 new notes, and also let pass the midi in to midi out so 3notes are trig. to build some chord grid to get correct values, i would use a selector in /data, where you can put some values, and a list box controls what the selector outputs, so that you can write chords name....
a pic would explain that much more, ill try to do one..

You should be able to create your own chord settings if you edit the "Midi Auto Harmony II" script and the "Midi Transformer" module can limit things to a particular scale I think?nay-seven wrote:Welcome Guixman !

Thanks a lot for your help. it's been really useful.
Now I have to customize the script. And I'm not a big fan of programing. But with Usine, I'm starting to get some interest in it. Funny.
I keep you posted and will upload the patch, as soon as it's ready.
Thanks again

Best of luck with!! And please share your results - I'm no programmer either and I've been too intimidated to meddle with the scripts yet, so I'm VERY interested to hear how you go with itGuixman wrote:Thanks a lot for your help. it's been really useful.

I have a problem with this "midi create message" block. Whatever I send to its MSG input, it always claims receiving a SYSTEM_RESET msg... Typically I take a MIDI filter or a MIDI unpack module and hook up all its outputs the the inputs of the MIDI create message module. All the other signals propagate fine, except the MSG one. The cable in between indicate the correct msg values (alternating between 144 and 128, as the MIDI filter (or unpack) blocks are receiving note on/off from a piano roll block, but when I click the MIDI create message block, it remains stuck to SYSTEM_RESET messages, and doesn't output note on/off.
My goal is to modify the MIDI message, so this is why I split it up and rebuild it, but so far I haven't been able to rebuild the unaltered midi message properly, so I can't go further... Is there a bug with the MIDI create message module or am I doing something wrong?

I am curious did you ever finish your harmonizer.
I am trying to make some ewi harmonizers for my wind synth.
I will post my progress here. Does anyone here know of Johan looijenga midi harmonizer?
I thought I would try to build something like that inside usine.
