Set all Vst params (5 Ko)

Set all VST parameters with only one fader and one selector.
You select which parameter you want in a combobox and you modify it with a fader.


It is also a simple example of IML in a script.
Very simple to use and can be easily modified to any VST.

shit... it works !
and I've changed the VST... and it works
and changed the fader for a switch... still works !

that's magic for me, just the opposit of my own weird patches because they hardly ever work :/

the IML is very powerfull and especially if we use it with a script...

This is just about the best thing ever! (Move over "Automap"!) Ok, so I totally need to learn the IML and scripting because it seems I am missing half of Usine...
Is there any way to get the parameters from a specific VST into a list without having input each parameter by hand?

edit:
I would also like to be able to use this globally over all Usine, not just within the current patch, or else be able to set track and line...? I also have great uses for this to controll Usine interface items also....?
(Edit: I have just realized controlling Usine interface items with this script is the same as for a VST, easy! Also easy is setting the track and the line for the script but a control inlet for track and line, or global option would be better...hello "Parameter Linking"! )

Ok, which way to the Usine IML / Scripting classroom?
(Edit: yes, I have found the scripting guides and tutorial and IML guides but...ouch, my poor head does not think like this!)

Sorry I'm getting a little obsessed now...
Shouldn't it be possible to touch a control on a VST and have the parameter name received by Usine as text?
I am thinking of being able to populate the combobox in this patch by simply touching the VST UI controls that I would want to populate the combobox with...

Would it also be possible to use a script like this in reverse, for example to get a parameter value?

WOW - this is pretty cool! Just need an easy way to get vst parameter names - symptohm might be a little difficult to deal with otherwise!! :)

Not really in the general case.
I can get all the parameters in a list but in most of vst its a nonsense because this list often huge and totally useless. see the list bellow...
The thing to do is to create a 'VstMap' file for all the vst,an hard job and not for me...

But in the next release, the parameter list will be exported as text file in the folder /temp/ for an easier editing.

yes, already integrated in the actual script. The fader position is updated according the vst param value.

Thanks, that's great.

Much easier to eliminate unnecessary options than type the necessary ones by hand!

A lot of VSTs have very usable parameter lists, though. Not all are so random! In reaktor, the user can actually choose what's exposed in the parameter list--it's part of the same mechanism that assigns parameters to the preset manager.

So if you see 1000s of reaktor params, the inst builder hasn't done his homework!

How and when is the parameter list exported? I don't see lists for any of my vsts in the temp folder....

never mind, I found it!

One question, though--

I designed my reaktor instruments correctly, so the named parameters show up in the reaktor object within usine.... however, these same parameters do not show up in the .txt file.

Is there some way to make this work? I assume the txt file is written before the reaktor patch is loaded.

Indeed, I have two instances running in my wkp, and each has different parameter names.... but there is only one reaktor.txt

One note: the same situation exists with Kontakt.

Could you put a commatext output on the module for this purpose--would that be easier than writing the text file?

yes, already integrated in the actual script. The fader position is updated according the vst param value.


I just tried the script and I am not getting updates of the fader positions. I am using v5.15, and I just re-downloaded the script to make sure I have the latest version.

Am I missing something? I'm using it completely unaltered..... just opened it in a new empty workspace.

I think I see:

when I change the combobox value, I get an update to the fader, but I don't get anything when I move the control in the vst.

Mostly, I'd like to see the fader update when the vst receives a patch change.....

I'll look at the IML and see if I can figure out how to do this.

I still don't understand this. I would very much like to have an output pin from the SetVst Param script that always reflected the VST parameter value when changed from the VST. I have seen 23fx23's example for manually updating the value from the VST but I would like it to be a continuous update from the VST. Is this possible?

now that vst have array out, it should be possible to track element changes and update iml, ill give a shot...
