I forget what you call these but I'm referring to the sample dvd's that install their own copy of Kontakt. Anyway, they are not working well, or at all in Usine. Basically I get an audio hang , meaning I hit a note and it goes on forever, panic doesn't help. Also when I tried to see the program list, I got some garbage text for the first entry and nothing else.
Anyone have luck with one of these soft samplers ?
I've tried Morphology and another one I have installed.
TIA

Just an update to his thread that Kontakt does play fine. Program list is still garbage text but no big concern about that.

Sorry, stuart, I don't use Kontakt as sampler.
But I know that some here use it, I think you'll have an answer soon.
About Program list : I have the same garbage, but with none of the NI I use. Only for a lot of free VST. I don't know where it comes from...

Right, just so I'm clear about the situation - Kontakt itself plays fine. It's the sample programs that integrate Kontakt or Kompakt or whatever they call it that seem to hang notes - forever.

It comes maybe from a difference in the NOTEOFF protocol?
Usine uses a real noteOF message since some softs use a NoteON with velocity = 0... I'm not an expert in those things.
But if Kontakt works fine, it's OK.

Hi,
Personnally I use Kontakt2 a lot with Usine and it works perfectly well.
No stuck notes problem etc...
Kontakt seems to respond normally to all standard midi messages (Note ON, note OFF, PANIC (cc123)).
Have you checked the "one shot" versus "as long as key is pressed" triggering modes in Kontakt?
Are you sure you have no "midi loop" in your setup (quite common with virtual midi drivers like midi yoke or midi ox).
Does the problem happen only with kontakt?
The only occasions when I encountered midi stuck notes with Usine were:
- A very complex "midi routing" patch, a few month ago using some "midi filter" and "midi transform" modules wich, at this time still had some small bugs, bugs that have been copletely solved eversince.
- Some early versions of the midi piano roll module, wich didn't send note off messages in some situations.
- when playing a Vst with a midi step module, because this module sends ONLY note on messages, an this is normal.
Hope this can help,
Rgds,
B.
