good vst Reverb?

so, I am searching a good vst reverb.

I was used to my 'spend lot's of cash' TC powercore VSS3 wich is still the best reverb i ever heard, ultra realist.
but im fed up with plugging dsp, powercore sound awesome but is not stable, add one buffer latency ect.
idlike to go all native now. keep the poco only for mastering or refining purposes, prepare some samples ect, i don't want to have to plug it for global song creation or live performance. so , i need a native reverb.

of course there are lots of good convolutions reverbs, Altiverb being one of them but i would prefer an algorithmic one,
since im used to "animate " reverb parameters like tail duration,and that's usually not realtime automatable on convolutions, and there are globally less controls, more cpu hungry ect..so...im more looking for an algorithmic one.

after testing lot of them i was very disapointed. results where very far from Tc.
i only found Breverb that is correct and light on cpu,or Lexicon PCM being the closest but quite hungry, and at 1800$..

i was really stunned i found one that sounded very nice to my ears and cost only 30 euros!!!
and it have a nice intutive interesting thing: you position the elements in a virtual room, wich make total sense for me.
don't know why not more used.. can put stuff back right, some front left ect..

so if you're looking for a cheap good sounding reverb i recommand to check this one:

it's a convolution but cheap, great, lot's of parameters, cpu light, etc..

I gave a shot to them , still trying. some cool things.

Reverberate is indeed a nice convolution, i may consider it for static setting as ir gives instant results, quite low cpu,
lot's of controls to shape. cool one.

was not really convinced by timeverb, a bit digital unnatural to my ears, but hey it's free.

I knew well Tc m30, (in fact i owned all TC reverbs: DVR2, VSS3, Nonlin2, Megareverb, Creverb, M30, M40, classicVerb)
im quite a TC reverbs fan, imo they are the masters of algoritmic reverbs. they just totally failed on dev and drivers.
i feel a bit annoyed using one of their free plugs when i gave them more than 1.5kiloE for their expensive reverbs
that was a totally stupid impulsive cash drop on my first big job earning that drives me mad now.
i can't even use that ,;,:!!!$$ng powercore6000 in stable setup, from few years of tries now, it's like they let you hear the ultimate sound, but on real use, that just don't work for long : BSOD, spikes, FW, sync drops ect, insanly frustrating
for a while i could use the access virus with tc reverbs and was really outstanding unmatched non digital sound but after few
hard crashs during live performance i simply can't use it any more, im so pissed of spending my days trying make it stable.
it will endup on ebay now i atlast decided myself..

Not because caco is on the board, but im truly honestly amazed by mverb quality for a free plugin. think it's one
of the best free reverb ever heard, really, it match and even goes above much pricey commercials ones easily and is light on cpu,and well chosen controls. a masterPiece Master caco!

.MetaReverb seemed really nice concept but unfortunately here goes buggy on W7 64.

so i think for now will keep my new setup tries using MReverb and Mverb as my 'animable' tracks reverb challengers, and Reverberate as a global return convolution, and bounce some Lexicon stuff for special lush tails purposes if needed.

I am absolutely satisfied with 2CAudio Aether. Great plug, lots of nice organic sounding reverbs and lots of special fx possibilities, low latency and decent on cpu. I got a great deal in a group buy too...

so... , that's 1h im playing with aether demo and all i got to say is wow.
. think it becomes a serious challenger, quite impressive! playing near lexicon-tc high end rooms i think,
with more modularity certainly, while being much cheaper.

clean sound, very modular from realistic to weird tweaked, a bit more cpu hungry, but very correct for such quality and so tweakable!
Love the simple fact you can 'lock' params while changing presets .pure. only cons is the gui being a bit spatial to my taste
but i guess we got to get used to..

MVerb is also open source so all the code is there if people want to see how a reverb is made. Credit for MVerb should also go to Jon Dattorro though as it was his research paper describing the structure of the figure of eight reverb tank used by Lexicon that inspired MVerb's design. I also wanted something I could tweak and use live so I have tried to make MVerb as CPU efficient as possible so it should be a good accompaniment to Usine.

i will definitely try to understand how that blurry smearing is possible in audio terms, a bit abstract to me, very interesting.

yes Cpu on Mverb is ultra low here on my laptop between 1 and 2 percent!. i think i will use it as my main low cpu reverb when need lot of track independant instances shaping, wich is often the case, in my subracks, racks ect for indivisual sounds settings.
and only one or two master send/return more hungry such as aether, ir or lexicon wich here hit more than 15 percents...

I'm not familiar with most of these reverbs, so I will check them out. I've been using epicverb, and it's a big step up from what I've had before. It's freeware. It was buggy under Kore, but works fine in usine.

i was amazed especially by his modelisations works. I once tried Clap generator, and motors, but this definitevely makes
me wanna recheck all his stuff. some creative jewel here. 10$ is ridiculous price for all this.

i continued my reverbs tests:

epicverb sounds really nice and modular for a free plug, as well as ambiance i had tried a long time ago.

so here Is my personal totally subjective tastes temporary 'Reverbs Oscars' statements, (relating algoritmics only),
after testing about 40 different ones, but there are many existing i probably didn't test...

A_Best only sound judging commecials - (no price tag limits) category :
1a) Lexicon PCM native Bundle (1800$) Lexicon Hardware awesome lush musical sound in Vst,
descent cpu but price is quite ouch, and 7 differents plugs, not allin one modular. still prefered TC Vss3 but..
i would say ex_aequo with
1b) 2Caudio Aether (249$) Awesome sound and here modular possibilities, good all in one, bit high on cpu.
2) Relab LX480 (199$) good Lexicon Emu , lighter on cpu but less possibilities than aether.

C_Best sound/modular/price in' low budget' < 50$ category:
1) Melda Prod Mreverb (only 30$) good sounding, modular, interesting 2D room positioning system. mid low cpu

D_Best Free reverbs category :
1) TC electronic M30-40 / very good, but hard to reach free now. posted the link here when they were offering it
on the forum if i well remember, sadly now they sell it 79$ or bundled with tc products.

2) Smartelectronix Ambiance / epicverb / very good ones.

E_BestFree CPU/sound ratio category
1) Mverb by Mr caco less than 2 percent cpu!, the lowest cpu of all reverbs i tested, and sounds good!

my happy discover is Aether, sound awesome and is quite flexible for lots of purposes, seems to react good with live tweak.
after few tweakings it can sound very close to lexicon or tc while being enough modular. only con is cpu but quality is here.
think may go for it as main send reverb replacment if sell Vss3.
but il take 15 percent more cpu in the face ouch.. ill have to calm down sowehere else
