Hi All:

Well, I just ordered a new computer, and would like to start running my setup in 64 bit.... Not sure what that entails, though.

I'm pretty sure all my NI plug-ins are 64 bit these days. Usine is 64 bit, right? Zen is not 64 bit, I know. Can I run 32-bit plug-ins in Usine64, or will I need a wrapper?

Is JBridge the wrapper of choice, or are there other options? Does Usine play well with JBridge?

Any other surprises I should be aware of??

Thanks in advance!

i run usine on xp 32 and win7 64, with battery and reaktor. reaktor is not 64bit! on win7 there is a 32bit prg. folder, win automatic puts 32 bit prg in there.

i tested my win7 64 bit in the beginning very extensive, did put on every stone old 32bit soft i could find to test it. had NO problems, every prg worked. then i did reset win and made a clean install.

dont even know if usine is 64... download, run, no prob. reaktor runs in there, too. but has sometimes strange crashes after editing to much in ensembles under usine. it kills the actual ensemble on closing/saving ... but very seldem. now i build in standalone, but still always a bit scared :)

have no wrapper or so. just dont want to much things "in the way".

btw.: what is zen?

I don't know of any 64 bit Usine but the 32 bit version still seems to benefit from some additional memory access in a 64 bit OS.
Jbridge is the wrapper of choice IMO and has behaved fine in Usine for me, plus even in a 32 bit host jbridge will allow you to expand your memory limits, or load 64 bit plugs but def. check the demo to be sure it works for you.

There's no Usine 64 bits version right now, bit works without problem on a 64 bits machine.

so what does that mean: works fine on 64 bit machine. How is that different from being 64 bit compatible?

I'm confused....

if it is compatible it can use much more ram

ah, yes, nay is right. it can use more ram if its written in 64 bit.

it's compatible cause it's works fine on a 64 bits machine, but it's not a native 64 bits appz
but don't worry there's no difference for you

If there's no difference, does that mean there's no advantage to 64 bit?

Is there any point in having more than 4 gb of ram in my system then? Can usine address up to 3.5MB itself then, since the system doesn't need that memory? Or am I still imited to around 2 gb as I am now? Do you know if I can run 64-bit Kontakt under 32-bit usine, so kontakt can use more memory? Or is that still considered Usine's memory?

a native Usine64 bit version would be faster of course, about memory i will ask senso to answer precisely
for kontakt , i don't know

Hello
I don't know what the limit is, but I'm using a win7 64 with 8Go of RAM, and usine says "out of memory" when I'm about 60% use of total RAM. If there is any way to improve that, that would be best news of the year for me !

check the tip
http://www.sensomusic.com/wiki/doku.php ... ble_memory
to allow 3Gb for Usine.
Usine is actually 32bits only and can't use more than 3Gb even if your system has 8gb.

Usine 6 will be 64bits

I suppose that the problem, why I can't run Usine VST in Cubase 5 64-bit nor can I open the VSTs exported from Usine, is because Usine isn't 64-bit?

In Cubase 5 64-bit the Usine VST and exported VSTs crash the program and don't display text and graphics properly.

Sucks as I'm too moving to a 64-bit environment and all my other VSTs work.

I would think Cubase would have no prob with 32 bit VSTs.... but you could try JBridge, and see if it helps....
