vst organization and self identification of purpose

Does the vst format have some sort of self identifiying tab in the code of some sort that a program could use to identify it as not merely instrument or effect but eq or reverb and such. I made the mistake of downloading every vst for the last few months and not paying attention to downloading to specific folders. Dumb I know. If you know of a program that could do this let me know please.
