i'm building a set where several sequences influence the sound and form of each other. i got the idea from my analog modular liveset.
now i tried to remodel the analog possibility to connect data ins and outs with a usine matrix. turns out this needs a hell lot of buttons and gets very confusing.
it would make usine livesets layouts much more arranged and versatile if there was a simple cable-in and cable-out, where we could connect every data / midi / audio stream with a cable, like in an analog modular synth.
cables
It's already the case, with the "expand button" you have an access to all inlets/outlets and then connect them as you want.
But it's at your own risk, the result can be unpredictable.

i'm very happy with all the cable connections i can do in the patch editor. but my idea was to bring cables to the interface to use them in a live setup, since this would need much less buttons than a matrix solution. (is that possible with the "expand" button?)
i my small example there is an envelope follower behind a sample player, which generates data. this data now can be routed live to various effects. here 8 rectangles are used, while with a matrix solution it would need 16.

ok, I understand now.
Currently impossible.
Also it supposes the creation of another layer: wires on the interface which is an hard job.
Let me think about it.

My thoughts about this are totally rusty, but how about using a combination of getting/setting parameters with a script and listbox etc. naming of data buses? It seems like between these two methods it should be possible to create a fairly powerful but uncluttered parameters routing scheme?
Or cables could be drawn via the draw object module, then a matrix on bg maybe, still need a bit of scripting..
