Hello, I was wondering how do I run Ableton's master audio output into Usine?

Thanks for the help.

Hello and welcome remains
Are you talking about a standalone version or a VST version of Usine...?

ok, so you need hardware routing i suppose, there's also the jack solution but I've never tested and not sure it's ok for live situation
if you think usine can be interesting for you, you can think about the Stage version, this way you can use the VST version directly in the master track of Live..?

Easiest way is to just use the Usine VST in Ableton.

Your other options are much more limited if you wish to pass audio between applications in Windows. Jack for Windows is worth a try although I have never had any luck with it. Doesn't seem to work anywhere near as well as on Linux for many people.

If you are willing to spend some money you could also try using Virtual Audio Cables in conjunction with ASIO4ALL and that may suffice depending on how much latency you are willing to accept.

Otherwise you need hardware routing.

ok thanks for the help. Essentially what I would like to do is use only one instance of Usine and have the ability to route the audio from either the master or from individual tracks in ableton or maybe even from both. I guess I could do this with the vst version but that doesn't seem very efficient. So I would need to get some kind of audio interface?

sorry, my memory is fuzzy for how the other Usine VST's work, but in Usine pro you can insert up to 16 instances of the VST in your host and they are all linked into one unified USine interface. In your situation, perhaps on instance on a Live FX Return track and one instance on the master?

Ok that sounds like the best solution. Now just to make sure I understand you're saying that with the usine vst version I could have up to 16 instances of usine in individual tracks and have them all unified in one usine window?

Yes, last I checked this is how it worked. Pretty nifty really! Mind you there is some extra cpu load with all 16 USine vst's loaded.
Someone else would have to remind me how many VST's (if any) can be linked with the free and stage versions of USine.
Easine I do believe works more like a traditional vst in that all the inputs and outputs are visible to the hosts routing.

gurulogic can you please explain how to link usine instances into one unified usine interface using vst version?
i know it could be done with Usine Pro VST 5.50.58 but i dont know how to do it with latest version of usine,
is that feature removed?

Oh I'm sorry guys,it seems the VST behavior has been changed since I last tried this.. Now Usine Pro VSTis limited to only stereo in/out? Can this be right? The linked VST behavior was an asset to Usine, why the change I wonder? Am I missing something?
Sorry for the bad intel!!! I hope your USine Pro upgrade was not unnecessary!

Nay I got one of your replies in my spam box today but it was a couple days old, weird... the email for the download worked fine though so it's all good :)

No worries Gurulogic, I was planning on purchasing Usine either way.
