Usine Saver

I'm kicking around an idea to make a sound driven light show screen saver using Usine. Environmental audio would come in through a microphone and be filtered into bands then colors and shapes would project on the screen according to the levels and rhythms in the different bands.
I'm loosely basing it on this thing that a friend of mine has -

I've had pretty good results with how Usine layers the BMP outputs in the past.
I'm wondering if anyone else has taken on a similar effort or has seen VST applications that do this?
Thanks,

i know the micro+band filtering is the simplest solution, but have you try the enttec pro dmx modules ( with some add_ons too from joffo78)

Thanks, Nay. I'm looking to manipulate colors on a monitor since I have an extra one laying around.
Does anyone know if there's a way to unpack the output of the 'color selector' so that I can take the input in HSL and modify the S or L but keep the H?
Thanks,

Hmmmm. The number coming out of the color selector is either an RGB or an HSL number, no? I want to use a color selector to pick the Hue but I want other signal data to modify the brightness (L) of the color.
I suppose rather than using the color selector, I can start with the HSL and tweak it directly. That'll work.
Thanks,

you can simply chain 2HSL modules, the first will pick/unpack color in from color input and output you the HSL values,
then you can link or not the hsl outs to hsl in of second module, leting free the inputs you wanna manually overide.
it's an interesting thing, im currently working on same direction for a festival live vj connected to sound via usine that decipher infos, trigger stuff too, we could share our findings. Ive chosen resolume wich, is not the best for 'generative' stuff but allow easy link with usine with OSC. it's possible ie to generate a square and change it's hue, move scale ect via osc.

Hi 23fx,
Sorry, I missed your post somehow.

Light Box
This is where I'm at with it right now. Just a couple of envelope followers and a LPF to try to pick up the drums. It's no where near ready for prime time and I've actually set it aside for the time being while I work on figuring out the best use of Usine with my live rig.
I looked at VVVV some time ago and decided I only need one enormous time suck in my life at a time.
Thanks for posting your music by the way.
