I am curious how others are experiencing the performance of hollyhock.
So far i find that i get much better cpu performance out of usine 5.80. Although hollyhock has many improvements for me that are crucial so i am trying to find ways to work in the new world of hollyhock.
I am going to get a hot new laptop with raging fast specs so hopefully this will solve my cpu issues with hollyhock. I could also be doing something wrong. If usine 5.80 seems to run fine then Hollyhock must be more greedy for cpu power.
Im currently on a I7 macbook pro bootcamp windows 7. 2.3 ghz sandybridge. hoolyhock 64bit. latency of 64samples. with the processor of hollyhock at about 30% i hear crackles.
hollyhock vs usine 5.80
I have found that one particular dense midi harmonizer patch that used scripts in 5.80 and had to be rebuilt for hollyhock was causing some cpu grief when used with certain other demanding cpu synths. I wasalso having issues in hollyhock changing presets. I did alot of complaining about not enough presets in hollyhock etc but now I think using the grid is the answer.
my summary of experience so far is that hollyhock is worth It. It is a big improvement in many ways. The more I try the grid the more satisfied and excited I become. Thanks team!

Glad you appreciate the grid now,
about the script, a new script engine , at least 5 X faster will be included in next version

well I defend the idea that free improvise music is the thing of the 21st century so, no timeline is totally consistent with my project.
Time enslaves my ears ! Time is order ! Once sounds are arrange in time based schemes, the essence of sound is gone.
Very few software can allow me to to what I need to do : Max or pure data could do, but the learning curve is not really for the spontaneous inclined.
Usine is the best choice I know for "simplexity" : easy to get into it, instant gratification with the VST integration and endless possibilities for the one who is willing to dig deeper : OSC, scripting language, SDK...
For me, Usine is capable of running a huge 30Mo patch that I can play with for 5 hours in a row without one crack ! Just playing music, not with a computer !
And last but not least : just try to ask a new feature with the Live developpement team and you'll know that Sensomusic is a developpment dreamteam !
My two cents.

Hi i've had a funny post on this one at 7h30 am this morning
there was a new answer from Joffo who makes the comparison between
2 identical patchs one with Hollyhock and the same with Usine
that proved that Hollyhock was in "CPU overload" and usine 2%
for the same patch but curiously there were no conclusions to this post
this was disproportionate and when i saw the hour when the answer was writing
i see that it was posted at 7h58 am it's not possible so think that it was a spam
but i went to the uploader and i've noticed that the picture of this false post
remains in the uploader it can be misleading
good evening
