Knob midi learn and relative mode
Cannot make work a knob with KORG NanoKontrol 2 in relative mode. In absolute mode works fine but in relative mode only increases the value both turnig left and right the controller knob. it seems to me that the problem is that NanoKontrol knob only sends 0-127 cc messages, if so is there any way to "translate" that data and make the relative mode the way is supposed to?
no , impatient young man, because relative mode are for endless rotary encoders like bcr2000
You wanted to mean RELATIVE mode right?, and that´s what I thougt... maybe a way (patch or module) to convert that absolute midi data into simple increments and decrements midi messages? The thing is that I sometimes need in a tive situation to adjust some patches levels in small amounts and the initial settings are all different and the position of the knobs in the controller is a problem because if they don´t match the patch knob it causes an abrupt change in levels. In a live situation this is a big issue.
I´ll be more patien nextime. Please read my post about the IB behavior in USINE STAGE
Thank you

you can test this kind of patch ,but really not perfect, here a delay of 5ms

I think I get the idea although I haven't tried it yet, What about if the fader or knob is from a plugin? Maybe make a fader or knob in within the patch that contains it that corresponds to the plugin one?
yes, if you create a knob from a plugin inlet, you can have the same patch
As you said, NOT PERFECT but it works, it needs a lot of tweaking to make it work in a usable way. Wierdly it does not work with the 5ms delay, it worked with 6ms and higher. I´m having a very hard time to make it work properly with Amplitube 3 which is the main plugin I need to have control over, not even with the extra knob attached to the plugin inlet. Certainly it moves Amplitube's knob but in a very weird way. I was wondering if there is a way to convert the increment/decrement data into relative cc midi messages.
you should try this:
patch
cc code 1 is set to 79 ( there is a '=' logical module to set it up)
works perfectly with the push and it is able to calculate the speed you turn the knob.

click on the word patch
i'm not sure but it seems that the NANO do not send acceleration cc change,
anyway, this patch should works.
if you want to deal with knob acceleration,
you'll have to measure time elapsed between two 'pass' impulse of the midi fiter module,
and then translate it into increment/decrement value of the fader.
ps: min max value of the fader are set to 1-100, you may set at 0-127

ok I see. I´ll take a look at the patch. I'm aware about knob speed, it is not much prblem with this for me I gyess. I'll try it out
Thank you guys

OK All modules within the patch are receiving and sending data but the knob does not move at all even when it is reciving inc/dec values. What could be wrong??
patch updated :
endless.pat
i removed acceleration,
remember that knob cc is set to 79 (code 1)
right rotating value = 1 & left =127 (code 2)

Well I still cannot make this to work. Previous patch is now "working" but knob moves in an oposite way even when swaping rotating values and with increments and decrements of 60 or so. updated patch behaves the same way but knob hardly moves with inc/dec of 1, I have to do complete turns on the controller to achieve that tiny movement. Controller knob is set to 79 cc number.
Well I finally got NaySeven's patch to work in a usable way, it took me a lot of tweaking, the tip is to deal and tweak min/max and inc/dec values for the knobs in USINE that control the plugin ones. Also was usefuf to write down the knobs settings and have a RESET button with its values, if something goes out of control I can reset the knob/fader to its original position. There is one little issue with the patch and it refers to knob speed, this is: if I move knobs in the controller smoothly they will respond in a desirable way but if they're moved fast they only respond by a very few values getting thins out of control. My question is: Is there any way to control this speed and get things more normal having the knobs react accordingly to movement speed of knobs in the controller? Of course I'm referring to NaySeven's patch.
Thank you very much for your help. You're great.

Does anybody know how to deal with knob speed?
