Hello
I can read several posts speaking about Kinect, but I don't find how to connect it to Usine.
Usine proposes links with Leap motion, but noting with Kinect. How it happen? With Ableton there is the Synapse interface. And with Usine?...
If someone could explain me, thank you so much!
Gw.

I haven't use my kenect for a while, but as far as I can remember, you need a middleware, then something like Processing to plug into the middleware and send OSC to Usine.

not as straight forward as with the Leap Motion...

Same as Oli - It's been several years since I did it but the trick at the time was a hacked driver and Processing middleware to convert the Kinekt to OSC. Since then, I believe a proper driver and API for Kinekt have been released.

At the time, it was necessary to 'register' a body with the Kinekt. I think that has changed since, but it was a PITA.

On the more esoteric side, I found the literal interpretation that Kinekt offered to be actually less useful musically than the native webcam support in Usine. For an interactive art piece, I didn't need to know distance and joints as much as just areas of the screen and level of energy. Here's a video from that project - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WqBuaQakgI

I'm actually back at it now working on another interactive sculpture and trying to figure out if more than one LeapMotion can be supported at once.

What I probably do is use a Linux computer fitted with the kinect sending osc to Usine thru ethernet

That will be one computer as a powerful 3d sensor and amother one dedicated to sound

What I like with kinect is the ability to measure distance at witch the subject stands, very useful in multiple loudspeaker configuration
