Audio click at Note OFF with Midi Sampler
I've looked among the different topics but did'nt find any about this issue.
I'm using a Midi Sampler module in my workspace and play it with a Quneo. Everything's fine except that every Note Off sent by the Quneo generates a very audible click on the sound it has triggered. Of course it's possible to de-activate Note Off in the Midi Sampler parameters but doing so cancels the use of the release parameter : the audio file is played until it's end or the loop end marker.
Anyone with the same problem and may be with a solution ?

i don't have any Quneo to test, but i can't reproduce this with all my other controller like K-board, lpk25, lpd8 ...
have you this issue with all your samples ?

Hi Nay-Seven, thanks for your reply. I've tried with different samples and it's the same problem which does'nt exist when I use the Quneo with a drum rack in Live for instance. I still have to test with other controllers by the way but it seems weird that a simple Note OFF message produces an audio click. I'll try to test further in the next days and post result if useful for other people.
Cheers.

So finally I've tried different MIDI controllers, samples of all kinds and it's always the same, each NoteOFF message produces an audio click when triggering a sample with the MIDI Sampler. The MIDI IN module output goes straight in the MIDI input of the MIDI Sampler, no processing of any kind. If nobody else faces this problem, I just wonder what I am missing in the process. Knowing that using the same controllers and samples with Live, Max or Pure Data on the same computer, without modifying one cable, works just nice. I can't figure out what's happening. May be someone has an idea ?

Can you upload a small patch demonstrating? I will be willing to take a look at and see if I reproduce or help guess to what the problem is. Is it just a plain midi sampler in the patch and nothing else?
->
Just a basic midi sampler here, tried changing poly, pitch, and using long samples and no clicks.
Maybe check your bloc size? Increasing may help? Does it do it with only 1 sample loaded? Does it happen on every release of just one note played?

Hi Sephult, thanks for answering? Here's the link to the patch.
Yes it's a very basic use of the MIDI Sampler module with just controls to change poly, pitch and gain. I've tried with another instance in an empty workspace with only MIDI In and Audio Out modules, with short or long samples of mine but also some bass, voice or synth samples provided by Usine. Always clicking at Note Off.
I've change the block size, 64 or 128 or 256 = the same. Disk streaming or RAM loaded = the same.
One point is that using a standard sample player does not produce any click on NoteOff ???
Version of HH2 is 2.0 081

What are your audio buffers set at and what is your soundcard you are using. Just curious as to if your audio buffers are less than the bloc size. Don't think related but curious. That will add additional latency, just wondering if giving you an ill effect more than just latency.

Roland Octa-Capture with buffer = 256 and Usine Bloc = 128-Only 2 inputs and 2 outputs activated.
And to be exhaustiv, Windows 10.
Well I think I'm going to find another way to build my patch.
Thanks anyway.

Using Aonghus TomBend I can get some pop but not like a click. When a note off is received you are sharply stopping whatever waveform or audio is playing. So I guess with certain audio you might here an artifact of sharply returning to zero-crossing.
I just cant seem to get a high audible Click like it was a buffer problem.
I am currently using my Focusrite 18i8 and Windows 10. 64-bit
Sorry I can't reproduce here.

Thank you Sephult. It's strange that using other sotwares in the same conditions does not reproduce the problem.
Anyway, let's move forward finding another solution.
