Hi everyone,

I would like to know what is your prefered workflow when you are working with usine and modular or cv hardwares.

It seems that I will probably be able to route lfos and modulation to audio out with predictable results but I'm pretty sure midi to cv and cv to midi won't be so straightforward.

Do you guys use external plugins like silent way or cv tools...?

I will conduct my own experiments tomorrow but any advice would be welcome.

Thanks a lot !

Hi kaosphere,

I am going to be doing some integration with CV here as well.
I have multiple devices, which I am probably going to work with MIDI and receive the MIDI conversion and then output CV.
At the moment I only have the basic MIDI reception of Mother32, System 1M, and an original Beatstep.

Hopefully in the future I can get a specific modular MIDI to CV. Possibly then there can be some mappings and modules that can be done to help control someway.

Like to hear about this topic more as we go.

If you own a beatstep, you basically have a midi to cv interface.

I conduced my first test this afternoon with silent way and it worked seamlessly !

Using their "voice controller" plugin, you connect your midi source to the midi in of the plugin, use their audio output 1 to connect to the v/oct of your oscillator and output back the oscillator in the audio in of the plugin. Press calibrate, wait a few seconds and Voil ! Nothing I couldn't achieve with my yarns interface though except i have virtualy unlimited voices.

I gonna try the other way now around which is always touchier, driving a soft oscillator in tune with an analog one using a pressure point. I'll let you know... :)

Works like a charm using SW cv to midi...Silent way is really up to its reputation...

You know I didnt know Expert Sleepers did the silent way plugins....checking them out now...thanks for suggestion!
I am hoping to get some new distings and a new case to expand here soon...what kind of system are you working with?
You an overboard addict? LMAO Not hard to do if you can get the money.

My modular system looks like this.

I'm currently planning two different workspaces in usine, one including some of the modules above along a machinedrum uw.

I'm using a leap motion and a killamix as controllers.

Awesome thanks for sharing! Quite a setup!
I'm just starting out, I have several modules, but nowhere near as many yet.
Question: How is Yarns and Warps?
I am really curious about the disting as well...I really want to get into the reprogramming and get several of them. Is the reprogramming easy? How do you use it?

Yarns is pretty nice and powerful, lots of functionnality and like always with Olivier's release really well thought !
Warps is nice particularly with the parasite firmware, vco, shaper, delay, vocoder, panner...Endless...
Distings has so many features that I basically end up reading the manual everytime I want to change mode ! :) But that's probably the module you want to have in every rack since there is always somewhere it can be used...

What do you mean by reprogramming ?

Yeah the disting has module firmware that can be modified to do a bunch of different things. I had seen it was available to modify. I assumed there were a lot more features than available at the front of the hardware module itself. It seemed like a pretty extensive list.

My current modular looks like this

Well not yet fully. I almost had the funds for the Trigger Riot and Z8000. Soon to get Trigger Riot, then waiting for the Z8000 to come back into stock.
Also the 4ms rotating divider and intellijel mult are planned... So more of an outlook.

I also have a System 1M and Mother32 in the mix.

I am thinking about doing some custom modules here, will see but never enough time in the day and I like to give my all for Usine and this modular (and technical support for about everything all day long) :)
