Usine as multitouch control emulator for other apps?
with multitouch we have the opportunity to finally replace or extend hardware controllers for live performances?
i am especially thinking about bi-directional controller hardware, to emulate bi-directional decvices made by Monome, Novation (Automap), Akai (APC10), Mackie Series, Steinberg, etc.
what about Usine Monome Emulator?
a Mackie Control Emulator?

normally no pb to do that with the v5.
a perfect candidate for an add-on?

I'm testing Hollyhock3 trial to see if it really can be used for multi-touch performances. At first everythig seemed perfect, but there's one thing that put me off in Usine as alternative to midi hardware: when knobs and faders are adjusted, the value always jumps around depending on starting point of touch. For faders this kind of behaviour is desirable in some cases (so you can instantly change value to where you touch), but for knobs I think it's just unacceptable. The way knobs react to 'mousedown' event is unpredictable even with mouse. I'm surprised this persisted from older versions of Usine way back from v5.
There supposed to be a choice for absolute or relative parameter change on knobs and faders, and relative set to default at least for knobs. Kind of like VST's UI usually react to adjusting knobs and faders. If that's fixed, then I guess I'm sold.

Ok, I found addon Touch_fader which solves the issue described earlier, but I think it's supposed to be default type of controls. As I understand you can't just replace old controls with this addon due to compatibility issues, so just a simple feature addition should solve the problem.

Hi x.iso, in my experience when a specific feature does not seem immediately available within Usine, more often than not with a bit of creative patching, and usually with various different approaches available, a solution can be found. For example I just had a quick attempt at creating a relative fader and haven't had the exact solution present itself to me quite yet, but in the meantime I found one method to create a "pickup" fader that only responds once mouse x (or touch x) has intersected with the current faders value.
Maybe this can help inspire?

I thought that I could do something like that, but it's a lot of extra work, which is a bit discouraging (it will take quite a bit of time as it is to build all the patches with interface I want). But as I've mentioned, the solution came with a great addon Touch_fader, which covers everything Usine missed in terms of basic controls. Nevertheless, the simple checkbox for switching between relative and absolute mode is needed for native controls.gurulogic wrote:Hi x.iso, in my experience when a specific feature does not seem immediately available within Usine, more often than not with a bit of creative patching, and usually with various different approaches available, a solution can be found.
