Hello evryone,
I have a problem with the General Green Play Button.
When i start Usine, the button is always linked to the space barre with a midi learn.
So when i start a workspace i always cut off the midi learn, because i don't want to work with the general green play button linked to the space barre or to any midi learn at all.
I don't want to touch to this button ! I would like this button doesn't exist seriously...
What ever. When i cut off the midi learn, i save my workspace.
And when i shut down Usine and begin an other session or the same the same problems appears.
The general green play button is Again linked with midi learn to the space barre.
So i cut it and save and the day after it's the same... etc...
Nothing to do.
This button will always be connected to the space barre ???
This is in Usine Code like with default ?
Thank you for reading.

The key learns was added due to a request to disable global keyboard actions, so clearing that learn should definitely be saved with the workspace.
I tried it and if you clear the space bar learn it is definitely not saved with the workspace (or in the global config).
I also tried clearing left and right arrows, and that is saved with the workspace.
It is a bit strange, since when you clear the learn the item is removed from the "learns" list, but when you save and reload the workspace it is back in the list, but the details show shortcut assignment 0 (which must mean "nothing"). I would have expected the item to not be in the list when then workspace is reloaded.
The shortcut action is identified with a number, which is a bit strange - is there a list of those numbers anywhere ?
I would expect a drop-down list of all possible actions rather than just a number.
So this key learns function could be improved in a few ways.
But the space bar learn details not being saved is definitely a bug, since other learns are saved.

This key learn is strategic on Live situation, not sure it's a good idea to change it

You can already change this learn - you just cannot save and reload the change (possibly due to a bug ?)
If need-be the ability to save this learn could be put under expert or God mode.
But I think all global keys should be re-assignable, after all the whole point of Usine is to be
flexible and go wherever your imagination takes you !
Not trap you into patterns of working like other DAWs.
If you have a workspace where you process text input, any global key assignments can get in the way.

I've had another play around, and if you simply clear the key learn, the default mapping (space bar) returns next time you open Usine.
But it you change the key learn to something else, that is saved in the global config. So change the key learn "key" and "shortcut" values for the Green Button to zero (which does not correspond to any keyboard key), and it does the same as disabling the key learn.
Note - these global key learns are stored in the global config that is saved every time you exit Usine.

good workaround !
Do you have to do this every time or does it save the changes?sm_jamieson wrote:I've had another play around, and if you simply clear the key learn, the default mapping (space bar) returns next time you open Usine.
