Anyone else waiting for Santa's (I mean Senso's) next visit to the forum to pick up the next round of suggestions and queries, etc. ?
I really cannot complain though, the fixes come through so quick - and Usine is shaping up to be almost perfect.

I have been on the sidelines as of late with not much time to dedicate to Usine / music making but have definitely been impressed with Senso's responsiveness to suggestions and quick rollout of updates. I'm personally hoping there are some biggies in the works.. Some form of HH patches as a VST would make my holiday season. Also an improved way to globally interact with plugin parameters is big on my wish list.. And an automatic user module and script generator that reads your mind and makes perfectly the module or script that you want (for code illiterate dummies like me) :D
Regardless, HH3 is awesome for me as it is now, everything else is just icing on the cake!

Another possibility for the VST is a VST bridge (i.e. the VST is just an interface that talks to a separate instance of Usine running on the PC - using shared memory or whatever). Personally, I use Usine to host VSTs, so your other suggestion is interesting.
I think Usine uses the Juce library for the VST wrapper so some custom code would be needed to make a more interactive dealing with the plugins.
I also would like the VST wrapper to support renaming presets, but I know this does not work with the newer fxp file format. However I have a VST that relies on the host for renaming presets, so at present if you save an existing preset as a new one, it has the same name as the old one !

There's always room for improvement in Usine, but I respect Senso from the bottom of my heart for what he created and how he improves it and that he actually listens to feedback and responds fast. Which really puts to shame majority of the DAW industry.
