Oscilloscope defintion

Unread post by Gilsornette » 08 Apr 2020, 15:41

Hello,
It would be nice to use module Oscilloscope as a video module; so could it be possible to have its output (bitmap, or else) in
higher definition?
thank you

Hello,

As said in your previous post in "General Discussion", the output quality of the bitmap out of a module is bind to the GUI size of the module.
Don't forget that the module must be visible. If you choose the right size regarding your video size, you will have the definition expected.
Unfortunately, the oscilloscope will be very big on your screen, you can resize the patch to reduce it without loosing definition. You can also put the other module of the patch in front of it if you need place (check "on top" in the module global settings).

Thank you for your answer Sylvain. I'm not sure to well understand everything you said, so I'll do some tries and see if it's what I'm looking for.

Hi Gilles,
here is a simple wkp I've done last week to manage the bitmap output as HD video:
download/file.php?id=79

in this solution, the oscilloscope is hidden to provide a 1920x1080 windows.

HO ! this is very interesting indeed !
I'd I try with my "olilOscope" module, bitmap direct into a video output : works bonzer !

Hello, sorry I was a bit away (mentally speaking) for a few days.
@rlgbst: thank you very much, it's now clear for me!

But one more question: I did not specified I wanted to use Oscilloscope XY. It seems this module has no pixel size input.
Is there a way to manage with this or not?

I use Oscilloscope XY a lot in the same way explained before. Works very well. I can send you an example if you need.
You can try also with the module "video draw pixels" but you'll need to be familiar with manipulating arrays .

All the best

Oscillo XY to Video.rack
(350.68 KiB) Downloaded 247 times
With the "quality" fader, you can change the size of the Oscilloscope and so the precision of the video. Be careful, it increases CPU consumption.

All the best
