Hi all,

i gave a quick look thorugh the forums, i hope i'm not doubling another thread... has anyone tried a touch screen kit (those that can be applied on an existing monitor)??
Also, i'm pretty sure that the touch panel has to be of the same size and resolution of the monitor (say 17",1280x1024) - that said, does anyone knows if a kit for a 19" wide, 16:10 monitor exists?? (i've chosen the monitor BEFORE starting to wish for a touch panel.....)
Lastly, i wonder whether a touch kit can be adapted to a differently sized LDC screen....

Ciao,
Goyya :)

thanks a lot - i realized these kits controls the mouse position (maybe it's obvious) within a certain operative area - things are much more easy than i thought!

hi goyya, I ve bought one of those pannels from ebay it's a 17" 16:10, for 75euros. it consits of a glass panel, a controller and an usb cable. I think there might be better systems , but for me it really do the job, especially with usine interface buidler (switch, fader), have quasi no latency when using switchs, have noticed a slight latency if you move sliders very fast, but's correct (ie not for a scratching utrafast crossfader, but great for all other thingz). for using as a mouse items have to be bigger than usually for good accuracy, and the extreme edges of the screen are a bit less accurate. anyway for 150e usine + this = your monotouch lemur.
overall i recommand, i wanted a low cost solution waiting for true multitouch windows 7.

@23fx23: another very useful feedback, thanks! luckily Usine interface allows to resize knobs....that means that i'm going to jump on the touch screen board! just another question: do you think such kits can be taken on stage? i have built a pc into a tool case (the screen is mounted inside the upper face) and i plan to take it on stage to use it as a guitar rig, so....i wouldn't like to break the panel!

thanks,
Goyya :)

well they don't really give something to "fix" it, mine was a latop , i removed the screen and put it on the keyboard, kind of tablet pc/imac then. i put the glass on it, then black cello tape, and metal bars around to protect it a bit. i guess coners might be problematic if to heavy hit, but when there is the other screen behind, center, main pannel area seems quite solid, it's not really like glass.,just try to protect it a minimum, but it seems ok (the laptop returned itselg when i was screwing it, and it didn't breake)
also you won't jump on it:)
