[4.1 beta8]
few small corrections.

fixed bugs
- an error messages is displayed when double click on a patch in the grid
- the Interface Builder menu don't appear when the Interface Builder module is on in a sub-patch

Image

[4.1 beta7]
the beta version starts to rock now...

improvements
- 3 new functions in the scripting language to retrieve IML global variables
- better audio player engine with a new buffering system in sequencer mode.

fixed bugs
- bad initialization value on the creation of faders, knob with the template engine
- aux buses problems when the input track is OFF
- sometime, on clear workspace, empty control panels are displayed
- the 'OFF' value of switches is not stored in the conductor
- can't edit the track name in sequencer mode

Image

[4.1 beta6]
very important bugs fixed. You should download this update.

fixed bugs
- important display bug solved: sometime faders disappear on panels
- important problem when saving the setup: the size of the saved file can grow exponentially...
- the demo Vst DuckVerb is missing in the package

improvements

NO AUDIO option in the setup
what a strange parameter!
Deactivates the ASIO engine. Usine works normally but the audio sound card is not processed.
It can be useful if you only processes Data’s or Midi with Usine because it saves a lot of CPU.
For example on a special installation you may have a ‘master’ Usine which process audio and few ‘satellites’ which only send information to the master from sensors over the network or Midi.

bonus

I have upload a special version of Usine optimized for Netbooks which is in fact a kind of 'lite' version
- 2 audio in/out
- 2 aux buses
- 8 tracks
- 4 lines in the grid

It's only a Christmas bonus and I'm not sure I'll keep this version available a long time...

[4.1 beta5] Quick Skin edition

Image
improvements
- "Quick Skin" skinable layouts
- new template engine and fast patching system
- new Internal Message Engine, allows the creation of dynamic patches
- the graphic engine is 50% faster...
- the audio engine is 20% faster...
- the loading time of patches is 30% faster
- add file name inlet in the sampler module
- receive/send bytes from network
- rename conductor bank
- external editor for script
- external editor for midifiles
- new step/lines modules design
- new small bars mode in data step module
- ON/OFF switch now available on each patch of the sequencer
- the visible status on the global interface builder is saved with the workspace
- new extract sub Array module
- new concat array x3 module
- new pianoroll edit commands
- next song outlet in conductor module
- bank select inlet in conductor module
- new SDK (V2) made by Martin Fleurent

Image

fixed bugs
- most of reported bugs fixed
- at the startup the sound card is always initialized to 44100Hz
- the paste in the pianoroll doesn't work properly

Image

notes
- we took a special attention to reduce the patches loading time;
it's a good news but the main drawback is that the files saved with the 4.1 (and higher) will be incompatibles with the version 4.01 (or lower).
So try to work on copies of your original workspaces.

is it a bird, is it an airplane? its a senso!

usine is for me the same as UK artists autechre was years ago. expanding the level of expectation of what is possible with each release. my sceptical nature says that usine cannot get better infinitely - but I am getting more on more sceptical of my own scepticism ;)

thanks, olivier!

These are ways of scepticism...
Then, one close day, you'll discover that to be realy sceptic, you had to beleive at least in one doubtful thing: that you have to be sceptic.
Because the V5 of Usine is on the road... and V6 in pieces in Olivier's mind... and...
